About Us
Real Pockets. Every Time. No Exceptions.
Hi, I'm Adetope Obasa, founder, designer, and a mom who got really tired of seeing my 5-year-old son with tons of pockets he didn't need while I juggled my phone, keys, and wallet like some kind of circus act.
I'm not a fashion designer. I've worked in admin, picked up tech skills along the way (shoutout to my husband for that influence), and I can't draw to save my life. But I can recognize an untapped market when I see one. Sure, some brands give us pockets here and there, but no one was building their entire identity around always giving women functional storage.
You know that moment of pure joy when you discover a dress has pockets? That little victory where you immediately tell everyone around you and do the excited pocket dance? We believe you should experience that feeling with every single piece you buy. Not sometimes. Not as a pleasant surprise. Every time. So I decided to build a brand around that promise.
From Vision to Reality
I know exactly what I want: pieces that work for real life, with pockets that actually function. I use AI as a design tool to translate those ideas into technical drawings that skilled artisans can execute beautifully.
The creativity is mine. The craftsmanship is theirs. The technology just connects the two.
Bridging Two Homes: Nigeria & Canada
I was born in Nigeria and moved to Canada in 2005. I've been here ever since, but Nigeria will always be home too. When I decided to start We've Got Pockets, my mom (Wonu) became my biggest supporter. She's still in Nigeria, and she helped me find the right seamstress, navigate logistics, and even supported me financially when I needed it most.
That's why every drop features one piece in authentic African fabric: The Wonu Dress. It's my tribute to her, to Nigerian craftsmanship, and to the place that shaped me.
What We Stand For
We've Got Pockets exists to prove that women deserve functional fashion without emptying their wallets. Here's what that means:
Sustainability First
Small-batch production. No fast fashion. No endless inventory rotting in warehouses. We make limited pieces, sell them, and move on to the next design. Less waste, more intention.
Functionality Always
Every single piece has deep, usable pockets. Not decorative. Not fake. Real pockets that hold your phone, keys, cards, and lip balm so you can go hands-free.
Accessible Pricing
Quality shouldn't be a luxury. We work directly with a small business in Nigeria (no factory middlemen) to keep costs fair while paying artisans well. You get handcrafted pieces at prices that don't require a payment plan.
Craftsmanship Matters
We partner with skilled makers who take pride in their work. Every stitch is intentional. Every piece is handled with care. It's personal, not industrial.
Inclusive by Design
Our pieces (sizes XS-XL) are designed to flatter different body shapes. We're building for real women with real lives, not just one body type.
The Drop Model: Why We Don't Restock
Each drop features 5 designs: four pieces in classic, versatile styles, plus one statement piece in authentic African fabric. We make 15 of each design with variation in sizes, and when they're gone, they're gone. No restocks. No "back in stock" emails.
Why? Because exclusivity isn't about elitism. It's about sustainability. It's about creating pieces people cherish instead of closets full of regret. It's about keeping women in pockets without participating in the waste cycle of fast fashion.
What's Next
We're just getting started. More drops. More pockets. More partnerships with small businesses that care about craft over mass production. We're here to keep women in pockets without emptying their pockets, one limited drop at a time.
Glad you're here.
